The goal of the course is to introduce students to the morphology, anatomy, growth, and development of agronomic and horticultural crops. $35 science fee. Course Outcomes: 1. Describe the role of plants in society and investigate careers in the horticulture industry. ILO 5. 2. Apply scientific processes and thinking to answer scientific questions. ILO 1, 2, & 3. 3. Explain plant classification systems. ILO 1. 4. Investigate plant growth and development processes. ILOs 3, 4, & 6. 5. Identify interactions in the Rhizosphere and how they affect plant growth ILO 1.6 6. Explain plant propagation techniques including seed germination and plant breeding. ILOs 3, 4, & 6. 7. Identify pests and diseases of horticultural crops common to the Columbia Basin. ILOs 1 & 6. 8. Discuss emerging technologies in the plant sciences. ILOs 4 & 6.
