This course introduces students in the School of Health Sciences pathway to the healthcare profession and various careers in medicine, nursing, and allied health. Topics include historical and modern contexts of healthcare, healthcare occupations, ethical considerations for healthcare professionals, and an information related to the various health sciences programs offered at Columbia Basin College. Course Outcomes: 1. Evaluate the history of American healthcare and its relationship to modern practices, policies, and career pathways. ILOs 1, 4, & 5 2. Identify various career pathways in health sciences, including opportunities in medicine, nursing, and allied health. ILOs 1 & 4 3.
